The story goes....

BLACK CAT was started in 1998 by Mykyll Jones of Simpsonville, SC and Byron Hopkins of Greenville, SC. After several band member changes Paul Doan, originally of Terre Haute, IN and Patrick Mahoney, originally of Upstate New York became permanent members in 2000. As a three piece with Byron on bass and vocals, Pat on guitars, and Paul on drums, the band recorded thier first studio CD - Alive & Scratchin' on LitterBox Records in 2001. BLACK CAT continued to play South Carolina bars, festivals, and Band Battles as a three piece until April of 2002
